چکیده

Abstract This study presents global asymptotic stability verification of submodule capacitor voltage self-converging modular multilevel converters (SC-MMCs) according to the characteristic root method, which constructs a switching state matrix for balancing control. The mathematical model MMC is established in form state-space equation. It proved that SC-MMCs have at certain time from perspective roots, theories Lyapunov and continuous-time piecewise linear system stability. Then, self-convergence over period deduced based on deviation vector. Under constraints linearly independent row vectors, without real-time calculation feedback can be achieved. efficacy are testified by simulations.

Capacitor Voltage Monitoring in Modular Multilevel Converter

A Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) is an attractive solution for power conversion without transformers. As MMC consists of cascade connections and floating dc capacitors, it requires continuous voltage monitoring. An adaptive observer design has been presented to estimate the capacitor voltages from the measurement of arm currents. This work introduces a capacitance value of the cell capacito...

Simplified model and submodule capacitor voltage balancing of single-phase AC/AC modular multilevel converter for railway traction purpose

A single-phase AC/AC modular multilevel converter (MMC) can interact directly with 25 kV railway grid without a bulky 50 Hz step-down transformer. This brings in great savings in size and cost. Submodule (SM) voltage balancing of this kind of MMCs remains a major technique issue. This study proposes a voltage-balancing solution for this scenario which consists of intraand inter-arm voltage bala...
